Significance of a Modular OT

An operation theatre may seem to be a conventional set up; however, evolution is always necessary in an OT and this is why MOT is the thing of today. In a surgical clinic or hospital, OT acts as a nucleus. Every treatment procedure must have reserve some comforting moments and when it comes to an operation theatre, the established should be highly patient-centric.

The reason being a patient is bound to spend his or her time in isolation. For couple of times there is no family or friends around patients and their physical sickness may feel even more.

Secondly, in an operating room, surgery centre, surgery suite or operation theatre there must be ample arrangements to ensure safety of the patient. There must be equipments to provide comfort, safe healing and keep infections at distance.

So, when it comes to establishing a Modular OT, you require more than simple civil engineering skills. It is vital to employ a combo of civil, electrical, mechanical, and bio-medical knowledge. All these efforts are basic requirements for establishing a Modular OT. Here are some components an OT must have:

• It must have moisture resistance.
• Anti-bacterial paint is an essential element. It must be highly durable.
• The OT must have vapor permeability so that it can allow the substrate moisture to escape. This also helps in preventing the growth yeasts, bacteria and mould. 
• It must be seamless
• It should be electro metric, especially if the location lies in a humid area
• Easy for steam cleaning
• There must be ample room for the flow of thoroughly clean air (bacteria-free). It must be reticulated to remove the air contaminators generated during the surgical process.

The OT lights should be homogenous; it must provide proper illumination on a deep, narrow or flat surface in spite of hurdles like the hands or heads of surgeons.

Including all other equipment the OT lights document must notify basic details, such as the power consumption and voltage measures must be mentioned on or beside the lampholder of the lights, it can be marked on the lighthead as well. Plus, the instructions for using it must be there as well.

The ICU curtains must be chosen with care. They should withstand microbial attack, disinfectants, stains, any sort of fluids and unwanted odors. They must be able to bear heavy usage by different people.
